About NJUA

Executive Summary

The volatility of the current business environment for utilities in New Jersey causes many stakeholders/agencies/businesses to adopt reactive strategies rather than proactive ones. Never before have we faced so many critical issues such as the Energy Master Plan, PFAS/PFOA and other contaminants in water, and the digital divide in broadband for telecommunications.

The New Jersey Utilities Association fully realizes that reactive strategies are typically only viable for the short-term, even though they may require spending a significant amount of resources and time to execute. Our new strategic plan will enable NJUA and its member companies to prepare proactively and address issues with a more long-term view. It will also enable our association to initiate influence instead of just responding to situations.

This document provides a roadmap for the NJUA Board, NJUA staff and member companies to bring the Association’s mission and vision to life through various programs and activities. The Strategic and Tactical Plan builds on recent research in terms of focus and priorities, but it offers additional dimensions to the activities which will bring tremendous value for our members and associate members and we have suggested a timeline for implementation over the next two years. Ultimately, this plan will advance our Mission and Vision.
